  2. Click "Install" and grant the required permissions
  3. Open any Google Sheet — the add-on is now available

Once installed, the connector lives in your Extensions menu. Open it to reveal the sidebar where all the magic happens.

  1. Open any Google Sheet
  2. Go to ExtensionsAnaplan Connector for Sheets™Open Sidebar
  3. The aPlan4Sheets sidebar will appear on the right side of your spreadsheet

Tip: The sidebar will remember your last session. If you've previously logged in, you may already be connected when you reopen it.

3

Connect to Anaplan

Authenticate with your Anaplan account — two options available.

aPlan4Sheets supports two authentication methods. Choose the one that matches your organization's Anaplan setup.

Recommended

Option A: OAuth / SSO

Best for organizations using Anaplan SSO (single sign-on). This is the most secure method — your credentials are never stored by the add-on.

  1. Click the "Login with Anaplan SSO" button in the sidebar
  2. A popup window will open — complete your organization's SSO login
  3. After successful authentication, the popup closes automatically
  4. You'll see "Authentication Successful" in the sidebar

Option B: Email & Password

For Anaplan accounts that use direct email/password authentication (no SSO configured).

  1. Enter your Anaplan email address in the email field
  2. Enter your Anaplan password
  3. Click "Login"
  4. You'll see a confirmation that you're connected

Security note: aPlan4Sheets never stores your credentials on external servers. All authentication uses Anaplan's official API, and tokens are stored securely in your browser session.

4

Configure Your Model

Select which Anaplan workspace and model to connect.

After logging in, you'll need to add at least one Anaplan model to start working with data.

  1. Click the "Add Model" button in the sidebar
  2. Select your Workspace from the dropdown — all workspaces you have access to will appear
  3. Select the Model from the second dropdown
  4. Click "Save" to add the model to your configuration

Multi-model support: You can add multiple models from different workspaces. This is great for teams that pull data from several Anaplan models into a single reporting sheet. Just repeat the steps above for each model.

5

Create Your First Pivot

Pull Anaplan data into a custom pivot layout.

The Pivot feature lets you pull data from any Anaplan module view and arrange dimensions exactly how you need them — rows, columns, and page filters.

  1. Navigate to the "Pivot" tab in the sidebar
  2. Search or browse the available modules in your connected model
  3. Select a saved view (or use the default view) and click "Configure"
  4. Drag dimensions to arrange them:
    • Rows — dimensions that appear as row headers
    • Columns — dimensions that appear as column headers
    • Pages — dimensions used as filters (select specific items)
  5. Select items for each page dimension to filter your data
  6. Click "Execute" to pull the data into your sheet

Tip: The pivot layout mirrors what you'd see in Anaplan's own UI. If you've used page selectors in Anaplan, you'll feel right at home.

6

Export Anaplan Views

Pull pre-configured Anaplan exports directly into Sheets.

If your Anaplan model has pre-defined export actions, you can run them directly from Google Sheets and land the output in your spreadsheet.

  1. Switch to the "Exports" tab in the sidebar
  2. Click "Fetch" to load the available export definitions from your model
  3. Select the export you want to run from the list
  4. Click "Export" to execute it and pull the data into your sheet

Tip: Exports use the same definitions configured by your Anaplan model builder. Great for standard reports that don't need custom pivot layouts.

7

Refresh Your Data

Update all your configured sheets with fresh Anaplan data.

Once you've set up your pivot views and exports, you can refresh everything at once — no need to reconfigure each connection.

  1. Use the "Refresh Sheets" feature in the sidebar
  2. All configured connections in the current spreadsheet will re-pull data from Anaplan
  3. Your data updates in place — formatting and formulas you've added around the data are preserved

Tips & Troubleshooting

Common questions and quick fixes.

Session expired / token error

Anaplan authentication tokens expire after a period of inactivity. If you see an authentication error, simply log in again using the same method (SSO or email/password). Your configurations are preserved — you won't lose any setup.

"Unverified app" warning screen

When first authorizing the add-on, Google may show an "unverified app" warning. This is normal during the verification process. Click "Advanced" at the bottom left, then click "Go to Anaplan Connector for Sheets™ (unsafe)" to proceed. The app is safe — this screen appears for all new Workspace add-ons.

Slow first load

The first time you open the sidebar or load a model's modules, it may take a few extra seconds. This is normal — aPlan4Sheets is fetching metadata from Anaplan's API. Subsequent loads will be faster as the data is cached locally.
